Hi Sparkling Footsteps readers! My name is Tieka and I run the blog Selective Potential. When Lynzy asked me to write a post on being Fit & Fashionable, I jumped at the chance! I've gone through a pretty incredible journey to get to where I am right now with my style and body image, so sharing my story is one of my favorite things to do. I love being an inspiration to girls out there who are struggling with the same things I went through.
Three years ago, I made it a personal New Year's Resolution to lose 30 pounds. I never truly felt comfortable in my own skin. I never felt like I could wear what I wanted to. I was always covering up in jeans and hoodies and wrapping myself in beach towels on the beach instead of swimming in the lake. I started my diet with Weight Watchers and spent the next eight months following the plan strictly and running 4-5 times a week. By the end of summer, I had lost 35 pounds. I felt like a brand new person. I started my fashion blog… and I feel like my life started when my weight loss journey ended.
It was never truly about being thin. It was about finding a way to finally feel comfortable in my own skin. I pushed myself to do something I've always wanted to do and when I finished, I felt like I could do anything I wanted to! I'm not sure where I'd be or WHO I'd be without going through that personal experience.

What an inspirational story! Thanks so much for sharing it with us!

i think it's important that in this post, it was stressed about not being thin. it really is all about being healthy, feeling great, and being comfortable in your own skin. to be honest, the before photos look really cute but the after looks incredibly confidently cute. (hope that makes sense) you look great tieka and i hope you update us periodically on your progress. thanks for this post lynzy!
