Wedding Day: Joanne from Fabulously Average

bride and groom

Greetings Sparkling Footsteps readers! Joanne here, the voice and creator behind the life and personal style blog Fabulously Average. In my little corner of the Internet this recessionista shares what she wears, what she eats and what she covets all while keeping budgets intact. I am thrilled to be guest posting for Miss (soon to be Mrs.) Lynzy today and I’m wishing her the very best of luck on her upcoming nuptials. Today I thought I’d share with you some snippets of my special day nearly two years ago on a perfectly crisp October day.

Unfortunately I planned a wedding B.P., that’s before Pinterest my friends. Pinterest has become the unofficial virtual wedding planner, which I also did not have. However my special day was not short of mason jars (an ode to my new last name), a unique, corky cake topper, or a beautiful Fall inspired alter.

My fella was very helpful throughout the planning and execution process of our wedding, which is why I was cool when he suggested blue as one of our colors. Obviously I couldn’t just stick to plain old blue, so I went with a rich cobalt and Carolina blue combination to satisfy the boy. I then had to add my personality into our color story, hence the vibrant pops of orange throughout.

I was fortunate enough to have a sorority sister who worked at one of the premier wedding dress boutiques in Northern Virginia. With her help and the help of my bridal party I was able to settle on a gorgeous Melissa Sweet gown that fit my personality to the T, and I got a killer discount;)
While I wore heels for the ceremony (and to appease my mom), I quickly changed into shoes more attune to my personality and style for the reception.

Y’all feel free to stop by Fabulously Average to say hi or to take a look around. My virtual door is always open and I always love new friends!
Thanks again Lynzy for having me guest post for you today while you settle in to being a Mrs! I want to wish you and your fella a happy marriage full of love, support and kindness. Cheers to the bride and groom!
