I just love the combination of blue and white for christmas, instead of the typical red and green combination. It is unexpected and beautiful. Our place has these hints of blue all year round, so all we needed to do was add a few pops of green with a tree and some garland!
Signing off the blog for the holidays. Wishing you and your families an amazing holiday. Stay safe and warm <3
The holidays in New England are always chilly - which makes it difficult to wear fancy dresses on Christmas and New Years. I love to dress down fancy pieces and decided to go with a military coat and Sperry boots. Keeps me warmer :)
Don't forget to make your bracelets during the holidays for #FriendshipForNewtown. Details here and facebook page here. I have posted the postage address on the facebook page.
Everyone has been asking "What can we do?" and "How can we help?"
I have been asking myself the same questions and came up with Operation: Friendship for Newtown
I don't know about you, but when I was little I loved making these friendship bracelets. Let this be a way to show these children that we are all thinking of them and that we are all friends. We are going to stick with green and white for colors. These are the colors that represent Sandy Hook....
After you create the bracelet, write a little letter stating where you are from and your favorite part about living where you live. You can also include a quote from Dr. Suess if you wish :)
I would love to get as many of these from around the country (& world) as we can. These little ones will be so excited to receive something all the way from California or Colorado or Florida!
Please, please spread the word. If you are a teacher, it could be a craft project for your children. Email me with any questions you may have (:
I feel so strange writing a regular post as if the friday tragedy did not exist. The truth is... I need to pick up the pieces one by one and get back to a normal routine. My husband and I will be bringing teddy bears to the children of Newtown today and attending a vigil this evening. We are all healing and it will take a long, long time for that to happen. Believing in a higher power has helped me with this and I just pray that we can all get back to "normalcy" as fast as possible (whatever that even means....)
The holidays are quickly approaching. I find myself rushing around to get all the last minute presents! I plan to bake these for our Christmas Eve party, don't they look delicious?!
This shirt by Three dots is unbelievably comfortable. The best part? You can eat as much as you want on Christmas and not notice ;)
I am in the process of pursuing a dream of mine that I have had in my head for a few years now. The girl who inspired me to go for it? Erika from Style Activist. If you want to be healthy and fit in the new year, you have to see what she is cooking up over here. I am taking a leap of faith into a photography career. Of course, I will never leave medicine....but I want a side job here and there that puts a huge smile on my face, and that's photography.
Last but not least, you all have the chance to win an initial necklace from John Wind Maximal Art ( as seen above). All you have to do is be a follower of Sparkling Footsteps and follow along with John Wind on facebook.
I woke up this morning sick. Sick to my stomach at the thought that we all need to start our day. Some of us to work, some of us to a holiday party.....
How do we just move on from this? I just cannot seem to ease the pain I have in my heart.
My eyes well up with tears when I see a little one, hear the television or read the news.
This world is a grim and scary place to be. We need to stick together more than ever and just pray. Pray for those sweet little babies who are flying high in heaven. Who were not even given a fighting chance. ...
To you mommies and daddies who lost a little yesterday: May you have the strength and courage to know that your baby is playing amongst the heavens and is safe there. always safe. May you know that you will soon join them, and that this must be enough for you, for now....
For those that survived and must live knowing that evil exists: You are better than evil. You can overcome this. It will be hard, but you have your mommies and daddies to hold tight. Never take that for granted. They will be strong for you, even when you cannot be....
For those that lost a teacher, a parent, a friend, a brother, a sister: Know that they lost their lives doing something courageous. The principal tried to warn everyone right before it happened. The fear in her heart is something that most of us will never experience. Those people are heroes. HEROES.
Peace be with you little babies and those courageous adults that are with you-protecting you in heaven....
There were so many people that loved the Dress Code series (see here and here), I decided to bring it back! If you have any suggestions for outfits you would like featured in Dress Code- send suggestions my way! You can also let me know if you would like to be featured!
This month we focused on Holiday Style. With all of the holidays coming up, it is so important to switch up the outfits for all of your upcoming events.
Absolutely adore the fact that you can now monogram certain bags from Linea Pelle. I have been obsessed with my orange Dylan tote for years (see here and here) and I am sure this one will get just as much use :)
I have been searching for the perfect pair of colored sunnies and I have finally found them. I mean who couldn't find a pair that they like on Sunglasses Shop?! There are so many to choose from!
I stopped quickly at a local vintage shop this weekend and scored the most beautiful vintage tea set- similar to the one seen here- but I only paid $15. SO excited.
